We're starting to feel the end of the summer semester, the end of the year at Bnei David. His brings us to a series of events closing and summing up the year.
Shabbat parshat Balak 18 families of our students came for Shabbat in Ma'ale Efraim, braving the hot weather, particularly hot in Ma'ale Efraim which is basically in the desert area of the Jordan Valley.
Meeting the parents of our students was especially exciting, happy and gave all of us a real feeling of partnership between the educational staff and the parents.
The second year students investing a lot of time and effort in planning and carrying out the event: they printed a booklet with articles and a bulletin; they baked and cooked whatever we eat on Shabbat. With their efforts this Shabbat was really successful and uplifting.
During the Shabbat the fathers and sons stepped out for an hour of assisted deep, personal discussion. We heard with openness and honesty about the importance of developing a strong parent-child connection, especially during a time of such importance to the student as their meaningful and molding year at the mechina.
Sunday and Monday we went on a bicycle trip as our end-of-the-year hike. The hike was forty kilometers of bicycling through an area in the north, full of brooks and springs, and also part by foot, and it gave a feeling of freedom to both our bodies and souls.
